The Truth-Teller's Bargain — Out July 7

The Oracle's Duet, Book One
Plated Prisoner meets The Bone Shard Daughter with a mythic, evolving magic system reminiscent of When the Moon Hatched.
She cannot lie. He refuses to kneel.
Alethea has never been free.
Born an Oracle with the power to speak the truth, she has spent her life in a gilded cage, her gift abused by her mother, the Queen of Lenorea, to maintain her rule and silence opposition. When Alethea speaks a prophecy that threatens the crown, she flees . . .
And falls right into the hands of Nakir Hasan, the cursed and exiled heir leading the rebellion against Lenorea's throne. He takes her captive, expecting a loyal weapon of the crown, only to discover a young woman desperate to escape the very life she's been forced to serve.
So they strike a bargain.
Alethea will help Nakir reclaim the crown, and in return, he'll grant her the freedom she was never allowed.
But what begins as an alliance between enemies slowly becomes something far more dangerous. As war approaches and prophecy closes in, their unlikely pull to each other grows stronger, and soon, Alethea and Nakir are faced with a damning realization . . .
What if the greatest threat to the bargain they made isn't the prophecy Alethea spoke . . . but the freedom she seeks, and what—or who—it will cost her to claim it?

FAQ
Is this a series?
The Truth-Teller's Bargain is Book One of The Oracle's Duet. The duet concludes with The Truth-Teller's Awakening.
What genre is it?
Epic fantasy romance — the romance is central to the story, not a subplot. Expect found family, political intrigue, and a magic system that evolves as the plot does.
What other books is this similar to?
Plated Prisoner meets The Bone Shard Daughter with a mythic, evolving magic system reminiscent of When the Moon Hatched — and a Hades and Persephone dynamic with a Disney's Tangled twist.
Is there spice?
Yes. This is an adult fantasy romance with open-door sexual content. Most readers rate it 3–4 chili peppers.
What's the next project?
The Truth-Teller's Awakening is finished and heading into line/copy edits in April, with an expected release of Fall 2026. Fate's Chosen Book One — the series following the events of The Oracle's Duet — has been first drafted. I'm also currently being sidetracked by a book demanding to be written: a dark fantasy romance set in a new world called Blood and Blade Between Us. No release date yet.

On Representation in My Work
Senmarria is not our world — its history, peoples, and conflicts were built from scratch. But no imagination exists in a vacuum, and mine is shaped by real histories, real experiences, and real stories. I've tried to hold that awareness carefully as I built this world, and I'll keep holding it as it grows.
My characters are diverse across gender expression, skin tone, religion, socioeconomic background, disability, neurodivergence, and mental illness. I am a white author, and while there are characters in this book with darker skin tones, it is not my place to write with authority about the experience of racism or its generational weight. That is not my story to tell, and I have never aimed to tell it.
Disability, domestic violence, neurodivergence, and the aftermath of abuse are not research topics for me — they are parts of my own life that I've carried into this story. That kind of specificity matters to me, and I hope it shows in the work.
Sexuality is something I write about as an insider. My queer identity is deeply important to me, and that shapes how I approach these characters. Most of the main cast of The Truth-Teller's Bargain are queer — and yet, like in real life, that isn't always the most prominent thing about them or their story at any given moment. The central relationship in this book is between a cis man and a cis woman, and I made that choice consciously. Queerness doesn't have to be visible in every pairing to be present in a story.
Mental illness is also territory I write from personal experience. Alethea's CPTSD, anxiety, and history of abuse are drawn from things I know intimately. Other characters carry their own inner lives and struggles too — sometimes without a diagnosis that maps cleanly onto our language, because Senmarria doesn't always have the same words we do.
I am always open to feedback. If you have questions or want to talk about any of this, my contact information is below.

The Songs of Senmarria
Songs of Senmarria is an interconnected epic fantasy romance series set in a single living world—where each story stands on its own, but together they tell a much larger tale.
The Four Kingdoms of Senmarria
Senmarria is divided into four great kingdoms, each with its own politics, powers, and painful history—ruled beneath the shadow of an all-powerful Empire. Alliances shift. Old grudges endure. And beneath it all, the Weave remembers.
The stories move across borders—following lovers, rivals, and chosen family as they collide with destiny… and the cost of changing it.
A coastal kingdom of noble houses, careful bargains, and old power. Its courts glitter with diplomacy and deceit, while secrets buried since the Dawn War still shape every alliance made in daylight.
A proud and learned nation known for innovation, scholarship, and refinement. Rolling countryside and cultured cities mask a formidable strength—Azmarin's knowledge is its sharpest weapon.
Seat of the Empire and heart of ancient civilization. Ruled by the Macierre dynasty, this desert kingdom is ruthless and enduring—where wine, sand, and ambition mingle beneath an unforgiving sun.
A vast northern kingdom of ice, iron, and pride. Renowned for unmatched craftsmanship and brutal winters, Wolfecrest guards secrets both great and terrible beneath snowbound stone and steel.

Camille Wolfewood is an epic fantasy romance author and the creator of Songs of Senmarria—a sweeping, interconnected saga of magic, love, and found family.
A longtime Austin, TX local turned Raleigh, NC transplant (and proudly claiming both), Camille writes stories about dangerous power, impossible choices, and the people who choose each other anyway.
She lives in Raleigh with her little family—including Ollie, her ever-present shadow—and spends much of the year traveling the U.S. social dance scene, chasing community, connection, and stories worth telling.
